Member: 10397 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 45 | YLG80 Since I don't have any MDM8200-based Huawei devices in my hands, I did some modes/drivers investigation with MDM9200 modem, E392. PIDs are not the same as yours, of course, but this info can be helpful for you, I think. Here are results in format "Mode - PID - components available - INF file(s) used": 1. Initial (before modeswitch) - 1505 - CD or SD or both, as configured with AT^SETPORT - ew_hwusbdev.inf . 2. Normal - 1506 - any supported combination, as configured with AT^SETPORT - ew_busfilter.inf + ewser2k.inf etc. (depends on component). 3. Factory - 1001 - Modem, PC UI, Diag - ewser2k.inf . 4. Download - 1003 - Modem, PC UI - ewser2k.inf . P.S. Didn't you try to disable "unneeded" components before your flashing attempts? Say, to disable all but PC UI, modem and diag ports: AT^SETPORT="A1;1,2,3" . And what is your current component configuration (AT^SETPORT?) ? |

Member: 10397 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 45 | YLG80 One more idea to try out: to set PC UI port number to the same value for different modes. Look at (in Device manager) and remember the port number, assigned for PC UI in normal mode. Then switch your modem to download mode - Windows will assign a different number to that port. Simply change it to number you remebered previously. Do just the same with FSM (Factory Settings Mode), if you use it for flashing. Desired result - one port number for PC UI in different modes. The aim is to ease (for fr3nsis' tool) port detection after mode change. |

Member: 10397 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 45 | fr3nsis What about tiny bug report? Following bugs are really annoying. Would be good if you take some time to fix them: 1. In Windows 7 environment, path for searching partition files in "Parse from HMF" mode is one level up directory. Example: We have DIR directory with SUBDIR subdirectory in it. HMF file is located in SUBDIR. In this case, HF is searching partition files in DIR. The correct behaviour is to search in SUBDIR, I think - as it really is if running on XP. 2. The last number/character of firmware version number is not displayed. P.S. Why don't you use the diag port - instead of PC UI - for operation, where possible? It would be more reliable, IMHO. Especially for new versions of fimware in which PC UI double (AT/QCDM) functionality is somehow buggy. |

Member: 10397 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 45 | fr3nsis Hmm...haven't noticed it for the first time: now (with version 1.3) HF successfully detects my E392's PC UI and diag port and does it's work - flashing - correctly. I've tried both ports - both work just fine. Great news since no more switch to FSM reqiured! |

Ports functionality is somehow unstable. Sometimes it works with diag port but hangs with PC UI, sometimes - just the opposite stuff. Modem reboot/reconnect solves a problem in about 7 of 10 cases. For 3 remaining ones HF relaunch in addition to reconnect is required. Quote:
Don't you mind to release a version that don't require Internet connection to work? There are a lot of situations where this thing makes your tool totally unusable, unfortunately.

Member: 10397 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 45 | fr3nsis Instability in details: program functions - Read Modem Info, Flash - can be run only once on diag port. Attempt to run the same (i.e. Read after Read) or another (say, Flash after Read) a second time results in hang. For PC UI things are a bit better. BTW, E3276's (HiSilicon Balong 710) ports are not detected at all by HF v 1.2 and above. |

See how it looks in Device Manager: In FSM, port starts to look more familiar (PID is real): but we still cannot see the direct port number, as we do for known QC-based modems. That's why, I think, HF v. 1.1 detects PC UI in FSM mode and detects nothing in normal mode. Flashing doesn't work, however, because modem is resetted instead of switching to download mode - for this device, this switching should be done in some different way. None of Huawei flashing wizards (e.g. dashboard flashers) works with this modem with the only exception of flashers with its "native" dashboard and its "native" firmware. Versions 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4 detect no E3276 ports in both modes. BTW, how do you switch non-QC modem to download mode?
